Can anyone from the SBA PLEASE try to get the computer department to speed up webmail!?! It should NOT take 10 seconds to open an email and another 10 seconds to close it. I have used this exact webmail interface at another school, and everything loaded instantly - so I know it's not the email program itself (or my computer). It is really frustrating and I have heard many other people complain about it. It's more than simply aggravating - I had to apply to jobs via my hotmail account because it took too long to upload my transcript and resume using yu mail. That is just unacceptable! Pleeeeeease help! Cardozo really needs to develop its technology a little better - I don't think there is even a technology or CIS-like program at Cardozo (vs. Yeshiva), and for a school this size they should have one. (As far as I can tell, the only person who can help you with your computer is the "Library and Technology" department, which is kind of a joke as far as I can tell, because it consists of the guy sitting behind the circulation desk.) :)

YMail (and webmail) will be updated sometime this year. The MIS
department has already purchased a new server - which will speed it
up. Not to bore you with details (but I was a CS major), but the
problem appears to be that the current server has all of your emails in
one file and parses them out. The new one is a database type
system.
As for the technology, YU in general is a little behind the times.
Feel free to ask me any computer questions. I'm in section 'C' (1L).
